The Xiaomi Buds 5 are here, and they are packed full of features
- Xiaomi has announced its new flagship earbuds, the Buds 5.
- The Xiaomi Buds 5 feature aptX Lossless support, Harman tuning, and active noise canceling in an unsealed earbud design.
- The earbuds have a few unique perks, including built-in audio recording, and three months of free Spotify Premium.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 are here, and they have a lot of interesting features to discuss. The earbuds have an unsealed design, yet still have noise canceling technology. You’ll have to stay tuned for our lab testing results to see if the unsealed ANC is a success like the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, or a dud like the Samsung Galaxy Buds3.
If you care about good sound quality, the Xiaomi Buds 5 seem promising. They feature the latest Bluetooth 5.4 technology with support for Snapdragon Sound and aptX Lossless. As long as you have an aptX supported Android phone, you’ll get near CD-quality audio, a rare find in wireless earbuds. Xiaomi also partnered with Harman using the AudioEFX platform to tune the earbuds.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 are aimed at content creators, with built-in audio recording. We’ll put the onboard microphones to the test in our full review of the Xiaomi Buds 5, but it would take somewhat of a miracle for wireless earbuds to replace lavalier microphones for professional content creators. Still, new features are always a welcome addition to the crowded wireless earbud market. You also get three months of Spotify Premium included with your purchase of the Xiaomi Buds 5, but the offer is only for new Spotify Premium subscribers.
Despite the plethora of features and advanced technology, the Xiaomi Buds 5 have an affordable starting price of only €99.
