Over three years since its last Pro-series wireless earbuds came to market, Anker has finally launched the highly anticipated and revamped Liberty 4 Pro. While it has been an uncomfortably long wait for Anker fans, the Libery 4 Pro’s reimagined and robust build is a welcome addition to the company’s earbuds category. They also come packed with a revitalized feature set that will leave more expensive brands shuffling in their seats.
Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro: What’s new?
The most obvious change Anker has brought to its flagship earbuds is an all-too-familiar AirPods Pro-style stemmed design. This is the inescapable direction most earbud manufacturers are heading these days. Just look at the controversial Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro for reference. Nevertheless, Anker is still leaps and bounds ahead of the competition regarding accessories. You get XXS, XS, S, M, L, and XL ear tips out of the box with the Liberty 4 Pro. The earbuds also wear an improved IPX5 water-resistant rating to protect against sweaty workouts.
Anker is a pioneer for pleasing charging cases, and the Liberty 4 Pro are no exception. Adorning a squarer shape than their predecessor, the Liberty 4 Pro case features a smart display and touch bar along the front interior panel. This screen shows the earbud’s battery life, while the slider can adjust features like the ANC level. This is neat for those who don’t enjoy fiddling around with settings in companion apps.
Under the hood, the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro profits two drivers per earbud and a digital crossover module. The latter processes audio signals and splits them into different frequency bands to send to the most appropriate driver. This can substantially improve sound quality and create a more pleasing listening experience. The Liberty 4 Pro also boasts improved active noise canceling that uses six sound sensors and a barometric pressure sensor. The last measures atmospheric pressure in real-time to automatically adjust the level of ANC. This works with Anker’s Reactive algorithm to respond to environmental noise three times per second, creating more precise attenuation.
Anker claims the Liberty 4 Pro last 10 hours without ANC enabled and seven and a half hours with it switched on. The charging case also reportedly profits 40 hours of additional playtime without ANC and 30 hours with it. The earbuds support fast charging, with a 5-minute top-up producing four hours of playback time. When taking calls, the earbuds use Anker’s AI noise reduction algorithm to cancel unwanted environmental noise.
