Spotify Music Pro: lossless audio, superfan perks, and DJ mixing coming soon?
Published onMarch 19, 2025

Spotify is finally set to launch a long-awaited premium add-on, Spotify Music Pro, later this year. This new service will reportedly introduce three major features aimed at three different types of listeners: audiophiles, superfans, and DJs (or party hosts).
While Spotify has yet to officially confirm all the details, reports suggest this add-on will cost $6 extra per month on top of your existing subscription. That means if you’re on the standard $11.99/month individual plan, your total will jump to $17.99/month if you opt-in.
But what exactly do you get for that extra cash? Let’s break it down.
Lossless audio for audiophiles
The most exciting feature of Spotify Music Pro is lossless audio playback. This has been a long time coming. Spotify first announced Spotify HiFi back in 2021, promising CD-quality audio. But after years of silence, the feature never materialized, while competitors like Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music Unlimited rolled out lossless streaming with no extra charge.
Now, in 2025, Spotify is finally set to deliver lossless audio—but it won’t come free. You’ll likely need to subscribe to Spotify Music Pro to access these higher-quality files. For most casual listeners, the jump from Spotify’s standard lossy compression to lossless audio won’t be obvious—especially if you’re using Bluetooth headphones. On the other hand, if you have quality wired headphones or speakers and care about having the best sound quality, it might be worth upgrading.
Superfans get guaranteed early ticket access
The second major feature in Spotify Music Pro caters to die-hard music fans. Right now, Spotify already offers pre-sale concert tickets, but there’s a catch: you need to be actively following and streaming the artist to qualify. The new Music Pro add-on will reportedly guarantee early access to tickets, even if you’re not constantly listening to that artist on repeat.
The exact mechanics of this feature aren’t confirmed yet, but if the reports hold true, it could mean:
- More chances to snag tickets before scalpers
- No need to prove you’ve been streaming an artist for weeks
- Potentially better ticket prices (depending on the event)
That last point is wishful thinking, but let’s hope Spotify makes it easier (and cheaper) for real fans to attend live shows.
DJ mixing for party hosts
The third feature of Spotify Music Pro is aimed at DJs, party hosts, and whoever gets stuck on aux duty. While we don’t have official details, rumors suggest that Spotify could introduce AI-powered mixing tools, allowing for smoother transitions between songs.
