I would rather wait for a good deal before shelling out the $400-$429 these typically cost. Luckily, Black Friday is right around the corner, and sales have already begun! Today, you can get the Sony WH-1000XM5 for just $298. If you prefer the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, those are $329.

Sony WH-1000XM5
Not only are the Sony WH-1000XM5 our favorite headphones, but they are also widely respected by the industry. You can check any review; we can almost guarantee you won’t find people complaining much about them. This is because these Sony cans do very well in pretty much all departments, while most other competitors fail in one area or another.
Of course, you can check out our full Sony WH-1000XM5 review to get all the details. The TL;DR is that these have excellent audio quality, as well as impressive ANC. We even found the microphone to be outstanding.
Sound aside, the Sony WH-1000XM5 are excellent in every other department. We love the updated minimalist design, build quality, and comfort. Because they are premium headphones, you will also enjoy a wide gamut of fancy features. These include Bluetooth Multipoint, touch gestures, Find My Device support, and more.
The battery life is also excellent. We ran these through our standardized tests, and they averaged about 31 hours with ANC enabled. Even more surprisingly, turning off ANC will extend that to a jaw-dropping 53 hours!
Bose QuietComfort Ultra
Sony’s headphones are amazing, and most people will be more than happy with those. There is, however, one element that will have some people gravitating towards the Bose QuietComfort Ultra. These have, hands-down, the best ANC performance we have laid ears on. These are definitely the best option if you genuinely want to silence your environment. It’s a great investment if you live in a loud city, or if you often travel by plane or train.
Of course, these are premium headphones, too, so they do very well in other departments. The audio quality is still awesome, and the passthrough mode is quite impressive. Additionally, you get a bunch of added features, such as Bluetooth Multipoint, Snapdragon Sound, a very nice and comfortable design, and more. Battery life is less impressive, though, averaging about 27 hours.
Which ones are you getting? Regardless of what you pick, you might want to act quickly. These steeper discounts don’t usually last long, and they are very close to record-low prices.
