The Sony WH-1000XM5 sits at the top of our list of the best headphones, and for good reason. These are the headphones to beat, featuring a lovely, streamlined design that will blend in anywhere. Don’t let its underwhelming looks fool you, though; these perform amazingly. We were impressed by the audio quality, and the stunning active noise canceling performance is impressive. Even the microphone is outstanding.
Of course, other features are just as great. You get ample support, including Bluetooth 5.2 with SBC, AAC, LDAC, and wired connectivity options. You’ll also get cool added features, such as Bluetooth multipoint for connecting to various devices simultaneously. It even has Find My Device compatibility. Not to mention, battery life is almost unbelievable. Our standardized tests yielded over 31 hours with ANC on, or a whopping 53 hours with ANC turned off.
Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones
If you want peace and quiet, Los Angeles isn’t the place to move to. Traffic, sirens, and hovering helicopters make it nearly impossible to concentrate, so I started asking Sound Guys experts which are the best ANC headphones for blocking these pesky noises. All agreed that if any headphones could cancel helicopter noises, it would be the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones.
These offer the best ANC around, and they happen to be fabulous headphones in other departments, as well. The audio quality is great, passthrough mode is also very efficient, and if your device supports it, you can even enjoy Snapdragon Sound. And while battery life isn’t as impressive as Sony’s, you still get over 27 hours on a single charge.
