There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Sonos entering into 2024. Reports have said the company best known for smart speakers and soundbars will be introducing products in new categories next year, with the most anticipated product being over-the-ear headphones. Now a new report may have given us a launch window for those headphones.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Sonos plans on releasing its over-the-ear headphones as early as April. These headphones are said to be a high-end item and will reportedly cost more than $400. This price point would put them in direct competition with Apple’s AirPods Max ($549), Sony’s WH-1000MX5 ($400), and Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra ($429).
Sonos has reportedly been working on these headphones since 2019. In the process, the company has scrapped earlier iterations of the concept, so they’ll likely differ from any previous patent filings.
It appears these headphones may come with Sonos Voice Control, which would be used for music-related commands. It could also feature a function that would allow you to synchronize music with other Sonos products in your home. The outlet also says Sonos’s headphones will be available in black or white.
In addition to headphones, the company is also said to be working on in-ear wireless earbuds. We could even see a TV streaming device and updated versions of current home theater equipment. In short, Sonos is expecting to have a big year in 2024.
