Shokz launches the OpenRun Pro 2 bone conduction headphones
- Shokz releases OpenRun Pro 2 with new DualPitch Technology
- Features include AI noise canceling microphones and redesigned fit
- Available now for $179.95 in black and orange, with Standard and Mini sizes
Today, Shokz has released its latest bone conduction headphones, the OpenRun Pro 2. This new model introduces several updates to the company’s flagship line of sports-oriented headphones.
The most notable change is the introduction of DualPitch Technology, which Shokz claims will improve audio quality. This system uses separate bone conduction and traditional speaker drivers, which the company says will provide better mids, highs, and bass. While Shokz suggests the audio quality is comparable to AirPods 3, we’ll need to test this claim ourselves.
Comfort appears to be a focus of the new design. The OpenRun Pro 2 features a unibody ear hook that Shokz states reduces clamping force by 16% compared to the previous model. The headphones now come in Standard and Mini sizes, which may help with fit issues some users experienced with the original OpenRun Pro.
Shokz has also updated the microphone system, incorporating what they call AI noise canceling and wind-resistant technology. The company claims these can filter out over 95% of background noise and maintain clear voice capture in winds up to 25 km/h. As with the audio quality, we will need to verify these claims through testing.
Battery life has seen a modest increase to 12 hours, up from 10 hours on the original OpenRun Pro. The IP55 water and dust resistance rating remains unchanged, though Shokz mentions additional protection from a new mesh structure and coating.
One significant improvement is the switch to USB-C charging. This addresses a major criticism we had of the original OpenRun Pro, which used a proprietary charging port. The move to USB-C will make charging much more convenient as it’s become the universal standard.
The OpenRun Pro 2 maintains the $179.95 price point of its predecessor. It’s available in black and orange color options.
