TL;DR
  • Samsung is gearing up to unveil its first-ever bone conduction headphones.
  • The device, codenamed “Able,” may launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in July.
  • The headphones are expected to feature an open-ear design that rests outside the ear canal.

Samsung is reportedly on the cusp of unveiling its first-ever bone conduction headphones. Trusted tipster Digital Chat Station notes these could launch alongside the company’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 smartphones at Samsung’s Unpacked event in July 2025.

The headphones will look starkly different to the current Galaxy Buds lineup. In particular, Samsung’s rumored bone conduction headphones should feature an open-ear design that rests outside the ear canal. Unlike in-ear buds, this provides superior situational awareness and a safer listening experience. It also removes the discomfort of stuffing ear tips inside the ear canal.

Trusted industry tipster Digital Chat Station suggests Samsung may unveil a pair of bone conduction headphones at its Unpacked event in July 2025.

User “i Ice Universe” of Digital Chat Station reveals that the headphones are codenamed “Able.” Unfortunately, we have little other details on pricing, features, or availability at the time of writing. However, the headphones could use functionality similar to open-ear buds like the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds and Nothing Ear (Open). Alternatively, Samsung’s latest headphones could sport a similar design to the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2.

Regardless, Bone conduction headphones are an increasingly popular choice among athletes. Instead of aiming sound waves toward the eardrum, bone conduction headphones transmit vibrations through the skull. This leaves your ears unoccluded, allowing you to hear environmental sounds like passing cars and traffic signals. This is substantially safer than in-ear buds, especially for cyclists, runners, and the like.

Time will tell how Samsung intends to differentiate itself from popular, more established bone conduction headphone brands like Shokz, Suunto, and Mojawa. However, if Samsung succeeds in this arena, it could transform the market and make bone conduction headphones more readily accessible worldwide. In particular, it could benefit those living in hard-to-reach regions or where the technology currently has a high price tag. Watch this space.
