TL;DR
  • Sony’s new WF-C710N wireless earbuds are officially available for preorder at $119.99, the same price as their predecessors
  • Promised upgrades include improved ANC with dual microphones, touch controls instead of physical buttons, and nearly doubled battery life with the case
  • New features include auto-pause when removed, multipoint connection, and a striking transparent blue color option alongside traditional black, white, and pink

After leaking a few weeks ago, Sony has officially unveiled the WF-C710N wireless earbuds. These earbuds bring several premium features to Sony’s budget-friendly line while maintaining the same $119.99 price point as the previous WF-C700N.

It appears the WF-C710N aims to address many of the shortcomings we noted in our review of the previous model. Sony has implemented dual noise sensor technology with both feedback and feedforward microphones, which should significantly improve noise cancelation performance compared to the previous generation’s disappointing ANC that barely made a difference over passive isolation alone.

Battery life sees a boost, with the earbuds being advertised to last up to 8.5 hours with ANC enabled (up from 7 hours and 13 minutes in our testing of the WF-C700N). The case now provides much more charging capacity, promising up to 30 hours of total playtime with ANC off, compared to just 15 hours with the previous model. Quick charging has also improved, now providing 60 minutes of playback from just a 5-minute charge instead of 10 minutes.

Gone are the physical buttons on the older WF-C700N earbuds. The new WF-C710N now has touch sensors.

Sony has replaced the physical buttons on the WF-C700N with more modern touch controls, which should prevent the discomfort associated with pressing earbuds deeper into your ears. These touch sensors can be customized through the Sony Sound Connect app to control music playback, adjust volume, answer calls, or launch your preferred music app.

While the earbuds retain the same 5mm drivers as their predecessors, Sony promises improved sound quality through its Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) processing technology. This may help address the weak bass response we experienced with the WF-C700N, though we’ll need to test them to confirm.

Other notable upgrades include wear detection that automatically pauses music when you remove the earbuds, multipoint connection for pairing with two devices simultaneously, and AI-enhanced voice pickup technology for clearer calls. The earbuds maintain the IPX4 water resistance rating of their predecessors, making them splash-proof but not suitable for submersion.

Perhaps the most eye-catching change is the addition of a transparent blue color option alongside the traditional black, white, and pink variants. This new “Glass Blue” finish follows the transparent trend popularized by Nothing and the Beats Studio Buds+.

Sony’s new WF-C710N wireless earbuds are available in a new blue transparent color.

The Sony WF-C710N wireless earbuds are available for preorder now at $119.99 and will likely face stiff competition from budget earbuds like the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC and Samsung Galaxy Buds FE, both of which offer strong ANC performance in the same price range.
