LG xboom
TL;DR
  • LG has teamed up with will.i.am on an all-new lineup of audio products called xboom.
  • There are a variety of xboom Bluetooth speakers in different sizes.
  • In addition to the speakers, LG also unveiled wireless earbuds called the xboom Buds.

You’ve heard of Beats by Dre, now get ready for xboom by will.i.am. The new audio product lineup, led by the frontman of the Black Eyed Peas, includes both Bluetooth speakers and wireless earbuds.

LG has appointed will.i.am as the “Experiential Architect” of the LG xboom brand. They say that all of the xboom audio products are tuned by will.i.am, characterized by a balanced audio profile with warmer tones. We’ll have to wait until we get the xboom products into our SoundGuys testing lab to see exactly how the sound quality holds up in the real world.

All of the speakers come with a variety of “AI” features including AI Sound, which adjusts focus on different parts of the music, AI lighting for pulsating visual effects, and AI room calibration. The speakers have a dedicated button to connect to will.i.am’s RAiDiO.FYI platform to listen to various infotainment from an AI Radio host. With Bluetooth LE Auracast support, you can connect multiple xboom speakers at once.

xboom Stage 301
The xboom Stage has lights along the top and bottom of the front-facing grill.

The largest speaker is the xboom Stage 301, which has a 6.5-inch woofer and 2.5-inch midrange drivers. It has a built-in handle for carrying and has an IPX4 water-resistance rating and up to 11 hours of battery life. If you need loud sound on the go, this is the one for you.

LG xboom Bounce
The LG xboom Bounce has upward firing drivers.

In the goldilocks zone is the xboom Bounce, which appears a good size for most normal-size rooms. It has up-bouncing passive radiators, dual dome tweeters, and a track-type woofer. The upward-firing radiators visually bounce and light up to the music, hence the name. LG is promising up to 30 hours of battery life with this speaker. Combined with IP67 and Military Standard 810G durability, the xboom Bounce looks ready for the beach.

LG xboom Grab
The xboom Grab is small enough to hold in one hand.

If you want a more portable speaker, you can check out the xboom Grab. You can hold this speaker in one hand, which makes it easy to “Grab”. It has dual passive radiators on both sides of the speaker, and can be placed upright or on its side. With IP67 and Military Standard 810G durability, up to 20 hours of battery life, and straps for securing to your body, the xboom Grab is ready for any adventure.

LC xboom Buds
The xboom Buds are still in the prototype phase.

The xboom Buds are wireless earbuds with active noise canceling (ANC). The earbuds also support Auracast, and promise up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case. With IPX4 water resistance, the earbuds will handle minor splashes of water in the rain.

We are awaiting pricing information for the xboom lineup. The speakers and earbuds will roll out to global markets in 2025.
