JBL Charge 5
Whether your season is full of trips to the beach or backyard parties, you'll need just the right speaker to DJ these events. The JBL Charge 5 gets the job done if you need something that's very loud, and quite portable. It's a little pricey though, so anyone who already has an older JBL Charge speaker shouldn't feel the need to upgrade.

The JBL Charge 5 is actually our top choice for portable Bluetooth speakers. We found that it strikes a fantastic balance between portability, audio quality, and durability. It will be a great portable companion for all types of purposes, from living room relaxation to weekend camping adventures.

It has a solid construction and an IP67 rating, which is outstanding in the world of speakers. Because it is meant to be portable, the battery life is quite exceptional, at about 20 hours per full charge.

The JBL Charge 5 is still a great buy in 2024.

We were surprised to hear that its sound quality rivals that of more prominent home speakers. It has a long-excursion driver, a separate tweeter, and passive bass radiators on each side. As a result, it produces clear vocals and a punchy bass that can easily fill a medium-sized gathering.

All that said, we also found it a bit large for a portable speaker. It won’t comfortably fit into a regular bag. It’s a great speaker if you don’t mind lugging it around, though. It helps that it also doubles as a power bank, as it can charge devices using a USB-A port.

If you care more about sound quality than portability or a rugged construction, the Anker Soundcore Motion X600 is quite the performer. This is actually our top pick for audio performance, featuring five drivers. This includes an upward-firing driver.

As a whole, the system will create an immersive soundstage that is very rare in portable speakers of this size. It even has spatial audio, adding a very nice depth and height to whatever you play. It’s the best portable speaker for audiophiles.

Despite its compact size, the Motion X600 has a few tricks up its sleeve to deliver immersive sound.

Now, this speaker is by no means rugged, so you’ll have to be more careful with it. That said, it still gets an IPX7 rating, so it still gets a nice level of water resistance. The aluminum build and unique grill also make it a very good-looking speaker.

It does suffer a bit in terms of battery life, lasting about 12 hours per charge. That is not necessarily bad, but JBL’s option is much better in this department.

Are you getting either of these? You might want to hurry up! Both of these are really good deals, and both speakers are outstanding. They’ll be great additions to any holiday party!
