JBL announces new splash proof Charge 2+
Just in time for summer JBL has announced a splash proof version of their Bluetooth speaker the Charge 2. The new splash proof model is simply called the Charge 2+ and seems to be the same speaker just with the added protection. Though with 4.3 out of 5 stars on Amazon JBL probably doesn’t want to fix what isn’t broken, so the added splash resistance is a nice improvement.
The Charge 2+ will feature a 6000 mAh battery allowing it to get 12 hours of music playback. As the name suggests, it is also capable of charging your device via the USB output though expect the battery life to take a hit when you use this. The speaker has two main drivers and two passive radiators that enable you to get some pretty solid bass for such a small speaker. It also has patented noise and echo cancelation to go along with the built-in microphone so as long as your device is within range you shouldn’t have any problems with missed calls. The social mode of the original Charge 2 is also present here which allows up to three devices to take turns playing songs.
Again, these are all the same specs as the original Charge 2 but with beach weather right around the corner the extra splash protection is definitely a welcome feature. If you’re lacking a water resistant portable speaker this could be the one for all of your summer adventures to come. It is expected to become available in June of this year in multiple colors including black, red, gray, orange, yellow, green, blue, and pink.
