- Beyerdynamic launches DT 1770 PRO MKII (closed-back) and DT 1990 PRO MKII (open-back) studio headphones
- The new TESLA.45 driver features PEEK polymer diaphragm and aluminum-coated copper voice coil
- Both models now have 30-ohm impedance and are priced at $599.99
German audio manufacturer Beyerdynamic has announced the second generation of its professional studio headphones, the DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII. The updated models feature a newly developed TESLA.45 driver and reduced impedance of 30 ohms, making them more versatile with different playback devices.
The new TESLA.45 driver uses a PEEK polymer diaphragm and aluminum-coated copper voice coil, which the company claims reduces distortion and provides a more precise bass response. Both models promise refinements in their frequency response compared to their predecessors, with the DT 1990 PRO MKII featuring reduced treble around 8 kHz while maintaining detail above 10 kHz.
The closed-back DT 1770 PRO MKII comes with both leatherette and velour earpads, while the open-back DT 1990 PRO MKII includes two different velour pad options for production and mixing/mastering. Both models feature replaceable components, including headband and earpads.
Each pair ships with a 3m straight cable and a 5m coiled cable, both using a lockable 3-pin mini-XLR connector. A carrying case is included, with USB-C cables available separately.
The DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII are available now through Beyerdynamic’s website and Amazon, priced at $599.99 each.
