TL;DR
  • Beats has officially teased a June 25 launch date for the 2024 Beats Pill speaker.
  • Leaked images reveal a familiar pill shape with a new detachable lanyard and three color options.
  • Previous leaks suggest the speaker will be a significant upgrade in terms of sound quality and battery life.

It’s been nearly a decade since Beats last released a Bluetooth speaker, but the wait is almost over. The new Beats Pill speaker, which has been making surprise appearances in the hands of various sports celebrities recently, should finally be launching on June 25, as confirmed by a teaser on X/Twitter.

Leaker Mystery Lupin didn’t waste any time, sharing high-quality renders that give us a good look at the speaker’s design. While it maintains the iconic pill shape of its predecessor, the new Beats Pill would come with what looks like a detachable lanyard for easy carrying.

The speaker only has a single USB-C port at the back. Ideally, this should allow for both charging the speaker and charging other devices using it. The leaked renders also confirm at least three color options for the speaker: black, red, and gold.

Beats Pill 2024 leaked specs

9to5Mac has already uncovered almost everything there is to know about Beats’ first speaker in nearly a decade. The new Pill speaker will be slightly lighter (1.5 pounds) and somewhat larger (8.6 x 2.8 x 2.8 inches) than the last Beats Pill speaker. For context, those dimensions make it slightly bigger than the Bose Soundlink Flex.

More importantly, the publication reports that the speaker would come with a re-engineered woofer and tweeter setup, which could lead to louder sound and deeper bass. Additionally, the speaker will feature a 20-degree upward tilt to optimize sound projection towards the listener.

Other reported specs include a 24-hour battery life (double that of its predecessor), IP67 dust and water resistance, one-touch pairing for iOS and Android devices, and compatibility with Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find My Device networks.

As with any other Beats product, we expect the new Beats Pill speaker to generate considerable hype in the mass market. As for the official price, we’re speculating it will be around $200-$250. Fortunately, June 25 is just around the corner, so we won’t have to wait long to see what Apple has in store for us.
