Bang & Olufsen's announces the Beolab 8 and Beosound Bollard
- Bang & Olufsen has announced the Beolab 8 and Beosound Bollard.
- The Beolab 8 is a high-end, standalone indoor speaker.
- The Beosound Bollard is an outdoor speaker that can pair with indoor speakers.
Bang & Olufsen is debuting two new speakers to its collection. One is a feature-rich, high-end indoor speaker, and the other is the company’s first custom-installed outdoor speaker.
Starting with the interior speaker, the company describes the Beolab 8 as the “ultimate sound system in the home or a single point of sound.” This device is a standalone Bluetooth speaker that’s capable of producing “powerful and immersive listening experiences,” on its own, but can be paired with other home theater setups or another Beolab 8.
The Beolab 8 is designed to be stylish, but it’s not without substance. This speaker packs a three-driver setup consisting of a 16mm tweeter, a 3” midrange, and a 5.25” woofer that delivers high-quality sound. Along with that comes four unique features:
- Beam width control: A user can switch between two listening experiences. One will allow the user to narrow down the beam to optimize the audio sweet spot for the listener. Or the user can choose to diffuse the sound throughout the room. An LED on the front will tell which mode the speaker is in.
- Room compensation: The speaker has the ability to map a room’s acoustics, so the audio sounds great wherever you are.
- Adaptive tuning: Using the built-in sensors, this speaker can detect the front cover and fine-tune the sound for optimal performance.
- Sweet spot location: This speaker can use ultrawide band technology to detect a listener’s acoustic sweet spot based on their phone’s location via the Bang & Olufsen app.
In addition, the Beolab 8 features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and Powerlink support. This will reportedly allow it to connect with up to 30-year-old Bang & Olufsen TVs and sound systems. The Beolab 8 comes at an equally high-end price, coming in at $2,749.

Beosound Bollard
The Beosound Bollard, on the other hand, is a speaker designed for the outdoors. B&O says this speaker is its custom-installed first outdoor audio solution. The device features three drivers, a 360-degree silicone lens, and a base that can be hidden underground.
If you’re not particularly fond of the cylinder color or you just want to change things up, the company says that the sleeve can be changed to Black, Bronze, or Natural finishes. You’ll also be able to pick between a cylinder or squared shape.
The Beosound Bollard can be synced up to multiple Beosound Bollard speakers. And you’ll also have the option to integrate it with the speakers you have indoors. The Beosound Bollard will be available for $1,650. You can learn more about it from the manufacturer via this link.
