TL;DR
  • Apple didn’t announce the AirPods Max 2, but the old model is seeing some updates.
  • The AirPods Max now charge via USB-C instead of the Lightning port
  • New colors include midnight, blue, purple, orange, and starlight

It’s been nearly four years since the Apple AirPods Max was released, and they have yet to see a second version, until now. Sort of. During today’s Apple event, the company revealed they are updating the AirPods Max with USB-C, ditching the proprietary Lightning port. The AirPods Pro 2 saw a similar switch from Lighting to USB-C last year, so this isn’t entirely surprising, especially given that the EU has required all new electronics sales to use USB-C by the end of the year.
