While we didn’t give the Apple AirPods 4 with ANC a stellar review, these earbuds certainly have their place in the market and could be the best option for many users. For starters, they are AirPods. Many Apple users will disregard any earbuds that aren’t AirPods, because of the added features the ecosystem offers. Device auto-switching between Apple devices is really handy, and works like a dream. Then there are other Apple-exclusive capabilities, like the simplified setup process with iCloud, Find My support, and more.
This is the first time Apple has attempted to add active noise canceling to its base AirPods. All things considered, they did an alright job, especially considering these are unsealed. Just don’t expect them to block out external noise completely. Apple has also improved the fit on these, using thousands of ear scans and over 50 million data points. I can personally attest to the fact that they fit better than previous AirPods models, but all ears are different. In my case, they fit perfectly and never feel like they will fall out on their own.
We believe these to be a great pair of wireless earbuds if you happen to use an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or a combination of all. You’ll get all previously mentioned features, as well as auto-pausing when you remove the earbuds, spatial audio, direct access to Siri, stem-pressing gestures, and more. They sound relatively good, block out external sound decently, and offer all the coolest Apple features many of you can no longer live without. These are all about functionality and convenience, though. If you want fantastic sound or ANC performance, look for other great options in our list of the best wireless earbuds.
