Apple could have very high expectations for its 2024 AirPods
- Apple is starting up production for the next AirPods and could be planning to produce 20 to 25 million units.
- The new models are reported to be targeting the lower end of the market and will replace the second- and third-generation AirPods.
- A new version of the AirPods Pro could be coming in 2025.
AirPods are one of Apple’s most popular and successful products. A report claims the tech giant has a lot of confidence in its next AirPods release, and it could be ready to push out new AirPods Pro by next year.
According to Bloomberg, Apple’s overseas vendors — like GoerTek Inc. and Luxshare Precision Industry Co. — are getting close to starting the production of new AirPods. This reportedly could potentially set up a release sometime between September and October for the TWS earbuds.
It appears Apple believes there will be high demand for new AirPods as the company is said to be producing 20 to 25 million units. This beats out the number of units created for previous new AirPods model releases.
The Cupertino-based firm is said to be aiming at the lower end of the market with the new models expected to replace the second- and third-generation AirPods. These newly refreshed earbuds have the internal codenames B768(E) and B768(M), with “E” referring to entry tier and “M” referring to mid-tier.
The outlet claims there will be a few differences between these new models and the old ones. One way they may differ is the ergonomics, as they are said to have a new design that provides a better fit. They’ll also come with a charging case that has a USB-C port, helping Apple to comply with EU regulations. The mid-tier model will get a few extras, however, coming with features such as active noise cancelation and Find My speakers.
Finally, the report mentions that Apple could launch a new version of its premium AirPods Pro earbuds in 2025. There’s a good chance we’ll also see an AirPods Max refresh down the line that will give the headset USB-C as well.
